An article published today in the Korean Times has some very interesting figures regarding the pre-purchase numbers for Guild Wars 2.
Citat:
I expect Guild Wars 2 to sell 3.1 million copies after commercialization in August,” Daewoo Securities analyst Kim Chang-kwean said by telephone. “Since April, the company has received 1 million pre-orders.” He compared the numbers favorably with Aion, of which NCsoft had 900,000 pre-orders when it was launched four years ago.”
The articles doesn’t identify how many of each format of the game – collectors edition, digital deluxe, etc. – were sold, but the number is still beyond promising for ArenaNet and NCSoft, specifically after the beta signup process earlier this year netted the same number of registrants.
The article further goes on to say:
Citat:
The analyst expects the game to sell 1.5 million copies next year, and mark 140 billion won in revenue for two consecutive years following commercialization. The predicted numbers are much higher than Aion’s total revenue of 70 billion after four years. NCsoft has enjoyed increased brand value in the United States, according to Kim.
