"Colin Johanson: Well, we’re in closed alpha right now, and we’ve announced that we’re going to go into closed beta before the end of the year. Based on the outcome of the closed beta, this will determine when we go into open beta, and the outcome of the open beta will then determine the final release date."Interviul e de acum 5 zile, iar asta a fost tot timpul
poziția oficială a ArenaNet.
Citat:
"We're going to go into closed beta by the end of this year for sure," lead content designer Colin Johanson reaffirmed to Eurogamer at the EG Expo 2011.
"We're in closed alpha right now. We're going to go into closed beta by the end of this year. Based on the outcome of the closed beta, that will determine our open beta schedule. Based on the outcome of the open beta, that's going to determine our release date.
"If we tear through the beta and everything's super positive then obviously it'll come out faster. And if we go into the beta process and we see things we want to change, then we have the luxury of having the time to be able to sit down and fix that stuff.
"We really don't know when release is going to be, because we want time to react to things and upgrade and everything."

Eric Flannum scrie:
Flying Dutchman scrie:
I honestly can't see them pushing it into Q2 2012. The game has already been in development 5 years. If they push it any farther back they are risking getting over shone due to new hardware and game engines. The game is graphically stunning don't get me wrong. but most games get into trouble around the 6 year mark, and we are rapidly approaching that.
Wanted to clarify something since I see this bit of misinformation quite a bit. We released Nightfall in late October of 2006, at this time we were actively developing the next GW1campaign which was called Utopia. We decided early in 2007 to stop Utopia development and start both GW2 and Guild Wars:Eye of the North development. We announced this almost as soon as we made the decision and in fact had a very small team laying the groundwork for GW2 while the vast majority of the company worked on Eye of the North. It wasn't until EotN shipped in late August 2007 that we really started GW2 development in earnest. This means we've really been working on GW2 for about 4 years and aren't actually close to 5 years let alone 6 years. I think what makes it seem like a long time is that we announced the project very early on so GW1 fans would know why we weren't doing any more campaigns. Hope that clears things up.
